Event Information
It’s a series of annual events hosted by the Motability Scheme. (You may have previously known these as One Big Day, or The Big Event). We showcase what’s available on the Scheme and what it offers.
You can learn more information about the Scheme at motability.co.uk.
We have these events taking place in 2026:
- Motability Scheme Live, Birmingham, at the NEC (Halls 17 to 19) on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 May
- Motability Scheme Live, Edinburgh, at The Royal Highland Centre on Friday 11 September and Saturday 12 September
All events start at 9am and finish at 4pm. If you want to attend at a quieter time, come between 2pm and 4pm.
What's at the events?
You’ll find:
- Cars
- Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs)
- Popular driving adaptations
- Scooters and powered wheelchairs

Closer to the event, we’ll announce which vehicles will be on display, including which adaptations partners, WAV suppliers, and scooter and powered wheelchair manufacturers will attend.

Accessibility
We try to make our events as inclusive an accessible to everyone as we can. Some of the ways we do this are:
- High Dependency Unit (HDU), which has a ramp for wheelchair access along with hoist and lift
- Additional, accessible toilets
- A quiet space at each event
- A limited number of ear defenders you can borrow. Please ask at reception
- We keep announcements to a minimum. We only use these for emergencies. Announcements will happen from 3.45pm onwards, to let guests know the show closes at 4pm
- We do not play any music at any of our events
If you have any questions or need any help on the day, please ask a member of the Motability Scheme Live team.
Test drives
To take a test drive, you must have a full UK driving licence and have no more than either:
3 (three) penalty points, which may have been accrued for any conviction;
OR
6 (six) penalty points in any one, or combination, of the following conviction categories: Speeding (SP), Construction and Use Offences (CU), Pedestrian Crossing (PC) or Traffic Signs/Directions (TS)
Any penalty points / endorsements over and above those listed above mean you’ll be unable to complete a test drive as a driver. Any endorsements with a conviction date of more than 5 (five) years’ old will not be counted.
To take a test drive, guests must bring their valid driving licence and sign our test drive declaration form on the day.
You book on the day of the event. Just visit the test drive booking desk. They get booked up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment.
On the Thursday before the event, we’ll confirm which vehicles will be available.
They’re subject to availability on the day. If there are slots free, you’ll be able to book two test drives.

Parking facilities and scooter hire

We always try to book venues with as much flat, accessible parking as possible. When you arrive, our car park stewards will direct you to an available car parking space.
Once you’ve parked your vehicle, car park stewards will be on hand to help you, if you need it. There’s an accessible car park shuttle service that runs from the car park to and from the main entrance.
Yes, wheelchair and powered scooters are available to hire free of charge at our events. Just go to the ‘Plan your visit’ page for the events you’re interested in, and you’ll be able to see when bookings open.
