Take a test drive

Motability Scheme Live offers a great opportunity to test drive a wide range of vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs).

You can try standard cars and vehicles fitted with popular driving adaptations too. You can test drive as a driver, or as a passenger with a qualified professional driver.

Plan your visit

We want to make sure you have a fantastic day at Motability Scheme Live. That’s why we do our best to make our events as accessible and inclusive as possible.

Hire a scooter

We have a range of powered scooters and manual available to hire for free. These will be released nearer the event so check back here closer to the event date to book your scooter or wheelchair.

Free to attend

You can come along to Motability Scheme Live for free. There’s no need to pre-book your place. Simply turn up on the day.

You can charge your electric vehicle at the NEC. Visit the NEC website for more: thenec.co.uk/visitors/facilities.

Everyone’s welcome
  • We have a quiet room at each event
  • We have a limited number of ear defenders you can borrow. Just ask us
  • We have BSL interpreters, but you need to pre-book these. Just email events@mo.co.uk
  • You can come along at a quieter time of day. Our events can get quite busy, so you can attend at a quieter time, usually between 2pm and 4pm
  • We keep speaker announcements to a minimum. We only use these for emergencies. There will be planned announcements at 3.45pm onwards, to let guests know the show closes at 4pm
  • We do not play any music at any of our events

We’re here to help. If you need any extra help on the day, simply ask a member of the Motability Scheme team.

We have extra, accessible toilets, along with a High Dependency Unit which has a toilet, a hoist and an adjustable height changing table.

We welcome these at the NEC, but we cannot allow any other dogs or pets.

Please do not leave your dogs in your car while you attend Motability Scheme Live.

Getting here

Venue
The venue

Motability Scheme Live, Birmingham is taking place at Hall 17, 18 and 19, at the NEC. All these halls are indoors and on one level. They’re fully accessible to both scooters and wheelchairs. You can enter the event at Hall 18.

Parking
Free parking

Designated parking has been reserved close to Motability Scheme Live and is free to all visitors. Follow the signs to Motability Scheme Live when you arrive at the NEC. Once you’ve parked, car park assistants will be on hand to help you, if you need it.

There’s also an accessible car park shuttle service that runs from the car park to and from the main entrances.

Car
By car

The NEC is accessible by major motorways, including the M42, M40, and M6, with the postcode B40 1NT. Follow signs for Motability Scheme Live when you arrive and continue to the free visitor car parks, near the event entrance.

Train
By train

The NEC is roughly a 10-minute walk from Birmingham International Train Station. A free shuttle runs every 15 to 20 minutes between the station and Hall 18. Follow signs for Motability Scheme Live shuttle near the NEC entrance. A lift leads to the bus stop. The shuttle drops off at Entrance 3, with return pickups from the same point.

Bus
By bus

To travel from Birmingham City Centre, take the X1 service (every 15 minutes) or the 97A (every 30 minutes). Local services are also available from Solihull (966) and Coventry (900).

By taxi

The NEC offers 24/7 taxi services with TOA Taxis. Just call 0121 427 8888 or 0800 0142 729, or use the ranks near main entrances.
